France and England in North America; a Series of Historical Narratives Part 3 eBook Francis Parkman
A great work of North American History as told by the men who lived it . Parkman was given access to volumes of original documents , as in official reports , letters , dairies and early histories in French and English . Kindle translation feature is a huge plus if like me you can't read French . By being able to read both sides French and English you are given a much more balanced picture . Though very American in his views he is fair and give the French their due . His work shows the strengths and weakness of both societies as manifested in their respective colonies .Product details

France and England in North America; a Series of Historical Narratives Part 3 eBook Francis Parkman Reviews
frances parkman is an underappreciated historian. his writing is elegant and he has a historian's eye for detail. when he wrote this, the united states was still a young country and there is a sense of immediacy that we don't find in today's histories.
The third volume of Parkman's massive history of the settlement of eastern North America is subtitled The Great West, and is concernd, in large part, with LaSalle's expeditons. While Parkman's personal prejudices are regularly annoying, England and France in North America was the first thorough study of the topic, and Parkman went to considerable effort to research and document his work. This particular edition appears to have been carefully checked for errors in scanning and formatting.
